All Consortium fellows and faculty are expected to attend.  Three articles on the topic is picked by the responsible program fellow one month prior to the club and given to the Program Coordinator, Marcy Medrano.  All articles will then be circulated to faculty, fellows and residents who will review the articles.
Each fellow is to submit a list of complications from previous month which was complicated or interesting.  Intraoperative video or pertinent films are encouraged for the discussion.

SURGICAL SKILLS CONFERENCE

Early in the year all fellows will meet at least twice on a Saturday for skills testing and competition. The skills examined will be those described in the operative skills curriculum. In addition, the fellows at Memorial Hermann Hospital will meet every Thursday of each week to practice MIS skills and teach the residents and medical students on the MIST service.

DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY GRAND ROUNDS

Dr. Wilson is in charge of grand rounds for the surgery department and thus promotes minimally invasive speakers for grand rounds. Each MIST faculty member is asked to present at grand rounds at least once every two years. Each MIST fellow is required to present at grand rounds a topic of their choosing. Fellows should designate their date of presentation for some time in the year with the chairman’s office within the first two months of the fellowship. (schedule)
