This one year fellowship includes both clinical and research opportunities. The fellows will gain experience in all aspects of laparoscopic surgery including bariatrics, Nissen fundopliction, laparoscopic donor nephrectomy, laparoscopic colectomy, laparoscopic hernia repair and flexible endoscopy. Teaching is a major responsibility of the fellowship as well. This includes managing our laparoscopic training lab and laparoscopic training courses. The fellows will submit abstracts and present them at meetings and will learn video editing.
Special features of our fellowship include the opportunity to practice in an academic environment, but also in a private environment, with three busy surgeons in the Houston community and in San Antonio. The fellows get a very broad clinical experience.
