Selected Reading
Monthly conference hosted by one fellow every two weeks. Fellow and appointed faculty responsible for selecting 10-15 articles from relevant surgical and/or pediatric literature. The sponsoring fellow is responsible for distributing the articles and providing a brief, yet accurate description and analysis of the methodology, statistical analysis, and conclusions of each article.

Case Conference
Monthly conference hosted by assigned fellow on rotating basis. Fellow and faculty invited to present relevant and sometimes perplexing cases encountered on inpatient wards and in clinic. Fellows provide images and relevant radiographs for each case. Great opportunity to be placed in oral board-like atmosphere and hear multiple surgeon's opinions regarding case management.

GI/Surgery Conference
Monthly, Thursday conference with pediatric surgery and gastrointestinal faculty/fellows. Each service presents interesting cases for open discussion regarding medical and surgical management of common Gl diseases. This multidisciplinary conference often results in interesting consults and problem-solving discussions of complex clinical scenarios.

M&M Conferences
The Morbidity and Mortality conference is held every Thursday at 5:00 p.m. in the Pediatric Surgery conference room. Students, residents, fellows, and faculty attend the M&M conference, where surgical cases from the previous week are listed and reviewed, as are complications and deaths occurring during that week. The information gleaned from these teaching conference is invaluable in achieving the education goals of the program.

Department of Surgery Grand Rounds
The Grand Rounds conference is held every Thursday at 7:00 a.m. in the Medical School Building room 3.001. Visiting Professors from around the country (including pediatric surgeons) and UT faculty are invited to speak. This conference is attended by faculty, fellows, residents, and students.

Radiology/Pathology Conference
This conference is held the 3rd Wednesday of every month in the Pediatric Surgery Conference room. This is a multidisciplinary conference attended by pediatric pathologists, pediatric radiologists, pediatric surgical faculty, fellows, residents and students. Interesting cases are presented and discussed.

Quarterly Resident Meeting with Dr. Lally
The pediatric surgery residents meet individually with Dr. Lally on a Quarterly basis. This is an informal meeting where each resident is provided the opportunity to discuss the program, projects, upcoming events, career goals and any problems they may be experiencing.

Fellows are also encouraged to attend the Department of Surgery M&M and other multi-disciplinary conferences offered by MD Anderson Cancer Center, Memorial Hermann Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine.
