Basic Science Research
Dr. Charles S. Cox, Jr. directs the Translational Laboratory at the UT-Houston Medical School with a focus on traumatic injury and intestinal motility. Additionally, Dr. Cox’s group is studying how stem cells can be used to heal brain injury as well as how fluid resuscitation effects gut motility. Dr. Andrea Hayes-Jordan directs the Pediatric Basic Science Surgical Laboratory at the MD Anderson Cancer Center with a focus on pediatric soft tissue sarcomas. Additionally, Dr. Hayes-Jordan’s group is studying the role and origin of pericytes in pulmonary metastasis in Ewing’s Sarcoma attempting to identify angiogenic regulators of pulmonary metastasis. Clinical Research
Dr. Kevin P. Lally directs the Pediatric Surgery Clinical Research Program at the UT Medical School at Houston with a focus on congenital abnormalities and neonatal surgical issues. Dr. Lally is a world expert in the management and outcomes of infants affected with congenital diaphragmatic hernias. Additionally, Dr. Lally focuses on necrotizing enterocolitis and ECMO.
